Chelsea are being billed as the favourites to sign Cristiano Ronaldo in the January window following his exit from the Manchester United fold earlier this week.
The 37-year-old has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the recent past with Chelsea’s co-owner Todd Boehly meeting with super agent Jorge Mendes in the summer to discuss a potential transfer to the Blues.
Since then, the rumours linking Ronaldo to Chelsea have remained in the news at a time when the new Chelsea boss Graham Potter is looking to dip into the transfer market for attacking reinforcements to add to his front line options.
According to a report from football.london, it is claimed that Chelsea are ahead of Ronaldo’s former club Sporting Lisbon, Newcastle United and MLS clubs in the bookmakers’ race to land the signature of the Portuguese superstar.
Reports of late, however, has suggested that Potter shares his predecessor Thomas Tuchel’s concerns on signing the ageing Ronaldo who is unlikely to provide the required firepower in the attacking third for Chelsea.
