Chelsea thrashed Crystal Palace 4-0 in the Premier League game at Stamford Bridge which saw debutant, Ben Chilwell’s stellar display.
His dynamic display saw the left-back score a goal and assist to inspire Lampard’s side to an easy victory.
The former Leicester left-back has been spending time in the sidelines as he was suffering from a heel injury. He joined Chelsea this summer after Chelsea purchased him for £50 million ($64 million) from Leicester City.
It was Chilwell’s 100th appearance in the Premier League competition with his first goal for Chelsea to break the deadlock early in the second half. He also assisted Kurt Zouma to double the lead in the 66th minute of the match. Looked like Ashley Cole’s advice has motivated the player to come back strong.
Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard has to spend a huge amount of money to bolster the attack of his team but it was his defenders who are netting goals for his side.
Chilwell is making up for all the games he has missed since the start of the season and his performance in his debut match has been 10 out of 10. His efforts broke down the Crystal palace defence and the rest goals followed one after another.
Chilwell’s goal was followed by defender Kurt Zouma and midfielder, Jorginho’s double penalty conversions which sealed the victory. There will be some discussion after the match about who should have taken the second penalty.
Tammy Abraham was displeased with the decision of Jorginho taking the penalty for the second time in the match. He had a heated argument with the Blues captain, Cesar Azpilicueta over this decision before the captain handed the ball to Jorginho.
The argument should not weigh over the fact that the Chelsea side looked very balance on the field compared to what they were against West Brom. They were determined to earn 3 points after failing to do so for consecutive matches.
There were no individual errors, the defence was composed and the goals came. It was a good day for Chelsea as American winger, Christian Pulisic came off the bench too for the first time in this new season in the second half.

There was a total of six changes from the squad that played the away game against West Brom which saw Senegalese keeper, Edouard Mendy playing his first Premier League outing. The total structure of Chelsea was balanced with Azpilicueta and Jorginho back in the starting XI.
Crystal Palace was sitting deep in their own half which made it tough for the Blues to open the scorecard. Timo Werner’s shot lacked the accuracy when he was provided with a ball from German winger, Kai Havertz. There were multiple attempts from Thiago Silva and Jorginho too.
It was just the same old games like the previous terms where Chelsea does everything except the finished product in front of the goal. But their improved squad saw Ben Chilwell’s spectacular display. He finished it from six yards after Tammy Abraham’s header fell on his feet. His continued excellent deliveries from set-pieces was a threat to the Crystal Palace defence.

As Chelsea put Chilwell more on set-pieces, it was evident that a goal was about to come from his dangerous supplies. That is when Zouma netted a header from one of the deliveries in the 66th minute.
Abraham had a hand again in the third goal just like the first goal. Chelsea was awarded a penalty when he was fouled in the penalty box in the 78th minute and just minutes later, the Blues got another penalty to make it four.
Although it was a lacklustre display from the Crystal Palace who gifted them the opening goal, it was still an all-round performance. Lampard’s side moves a point above Crystal Palace having earned seven points from four matches.
