Chelsea are leading the race to sign West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice who is heavily linked with a move away from the Hammers in the summer of 2023.
Rice, a graduate of the Chelsea youth academy, has courted interest from some of the biggest clubs in the country since the turn of the year with the midfield maestro not expected to renew his terms with West Ham.
According to a report from Simon Phillips, Rice is keen to call it quits at the London Stadium come next summer and it is Chelsea who are said to be the frontrunners to land the signature of the England international.
Chelsea could do with some fresh legs in their midfield roster which has lost the anchorman N’Golo Kante to a long-term injury that sidelines him until after the New Year amid uncertainty over his future at the club beyond the end of the season.
Alongside Kante, Italy international Jorginho’s future hangs in the balance as well with the former Napoli man out of contract at Stamford Bridge next summer with speculation rife over his return to the Serie A.
