Chelsea have announced the signing of Benoit Badiashile from AS Monaco with the French defender penning terms on a long-term contract.
The 21-year-old centre-back had been widely tipped to make the move to west London and join Graham Potter’s Blues who had been on the search for a new recruit to bolster their injury-hit defensive roster.

A statement put out on the club’s official website has confirmed that the 6ft 4in Badiashile, who has played in 150 matches for Monaco in all competitions, will sign for Chelsea on a seven-and-a-half-year contract.
Badiashile has been an ever-present name on the team sheet for the Ligue 1 giants Monaco since his debut back in 2018 and as a left-sided centre-back, he will be important to Graham Potter’s plans at Stamford Bridge for the second half of the season.
A long-term injury to Chelsea’s big-money signing of last summer – Wesley Fofana, had been a major blow to Potter’s squad in the backline with the aging Thiago Silva and the inconsistent Kaldiou Koulibaly his only viable centre-back options.
