Ligue 1 club Lyon are believed to be holding talks with Chelsea over signing Stamford Bridge outcast Emerson Palmieri in this summer’s transfer window.
Emerson has been backed to leave the Blues camp this summer following his fall down the pecking order which was witnessed across last season when Ben Chilwell arrived at the club in a big-money transfer.
With Marcos Alonso deputising for Chilwell in the left wing-back role when required, Emerson’s gametime has been severely curtailed and speculation of the Italy international calling it quits at Stamford Bridge before this month’s deadline day has gained ground.
Reports from The Guardian claim that Lyon are weighing up a move for the full-back who was a part of Robert Mancini’s Azzuri side that were crowned the winners of the UEFA European Championships earlier this summer.
Thomas Tuchel is keen on trimming his squad size which explains the decision to allow Emerson to head out the exit door with Lyon keeping close tabs on the defender after suffering a major setback in their attempts to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Kurzawa.
