Chelsea bounced back from their recent run of stuttering league form with Thomas Tuchel’s men recording a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
MATCH PROCEEDINGS
The home side started strong against their city rivals at Stamford Bridge with chances in front of the goal coming thick and fast for Chelsea in the opening minutes.
Romelu Lukaku could not get his effort on target while his strike partner Callum Hudson-Odoi managed to head the ball wide with Spurs on the back foot.
Chelsea survived a scare heading into the half time break with Spurs talisman Harry Kane seemingly giving his side the lead after finding the back of the net with a composed finish.
Kane, however, was deemed to have fouled Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva in the build-up to the goal with a VAR check ensuring the scoreline remained nil-nil at the interval.
Hakim Ziyech proved to be the deadlock breaker in the derby with the Chelsea forward netting an absolute beauty of a strike as Hugo Lloris was left helpless to deny Chelsea their opener.
A second goal soon followed for Thomas Tuchel and Co. with Hudson-Odoi’s work on the flank allowing the lurking Thiago Silva to get his head on a Mason Mount free-kick and find the back of the net.
Changes off the bench failed to give Spurs a chance to get back in the game with the Blues claiming another win against Antonio Conte’s North Londoners.
