Chelsea beats Newcastle United 2-0 courtesy to Timo Werner and Olivier Giroud’s goal. Werner ended his goal drought finally as he last scored in the Premier League in a 4-1 win against Sheffield United last November.
Tammy Abraham was the biggest threat from the starting minutes of the game but as he tried to convert a golden scoring opportunity, he injured himself and Tuchel was forced to substitute him. Olivier Giroud replaced him to come in the 20th minute and in the 31st minute of the game, he scored the opener for the Blues.
Werner although missed a chance when Kovacic burst forward and played a one-two with Mason Mount and Giroud to finally deliver the ball which the German shot wide. But minutes later, Werner put the ball in the net from the corner to make it 2-0. They were completely dominating with another great display from the Kovacic-Jorginho pair.
Newcastle tried to make a come-back with Kepa Arrizabalag making a couple of saves for the team but the Blues looked very calm. This win took Chelsea in the top four of the league table and made it Tuchel’s fifth consecutive win. He has been unbeaten for six games since Frank Lampard was dismissed.
