This could have been more in terms of goals scored as Olivier Giroud struck the bar with the ball almost crossing the line after hitting from the underneath of the crossbar.
This could do as the next game against Eddie Howe’s AFC Bournemouth looms at the weekend for the Liverpool side.
As we probe Chelsea 2-0 win over Jürgen Klopp’s side, we take a look at the three significant talking point from the Stamford Bridge duel.
WILLIAN IS WORLD CLASS
The talented playmaker proved his class and quality on the pitch. His quality was there for all to see as he’s shown in the match against Liverpool. Willian was helpful to his side course as they prevailed against the visiting Liverpool side. His contribution was spot on even as he’s been inspirational to the young guns like Fikayo Tomori and Reece James on the Chelsea side.
He’s made manager Frank Lampard to be delighted as he scored the first goal to lift the Blues past the Anfield side. This he did showing that he is top class as his brilliance on the Chelsea shirt continues to draw interest from several clubs in view of a possible move at the end of the season.
BARKLEY BRILLIANT FOR CHELSEA
The home side would have been delighted with the result against Liverpool. But it was goals from Willian and Ross Barkley that sealed Chelsea’s triumph over their rival.
Barkley was impressive while playing alongside Mateo Kovacic, Billy Gilmour and substitute Mason Mount as Chelsea kept their shape in midfield.
This put through the English midfield player in the final third as he brilliantly finished past Adrian in Liverpool’s goal.
That was the goal that sealed the win for the Blues as Barkley highlighted his quality with an impressive performance against Liverpool more also with a goal of his own in the game.
CHELSEA WAS DEFENSIVE ASTUTE
The Blues kept a clean sheet for the first time in a while as they maimed Liverpool 2-0 at home. This got Chelsea to defend very well to earn the morale-boosting win at home.
The defensive unit and structure that Chelsea formed against Liverpool were great. This got Liverpool forcing their way back into the contest to no avail.
Though Mohamed Salah did come on for Adam Lallana in the 80th minutes, the Blues held for in as Chelsea were resolute defending in numbers to preserve their lead in the game.
