Chelsea lost the opportunity to go on top of the league by getting 2-1 defeat by Wolves in their away League game. Although it was not the result the coach and fans expected, they deserved it. Lampard will try to forget the week that saw Chelsea losing a second time in succession.
The only change in the starting XI of Chelsea from the 1-0 defeat against Everton was Christian Pulisic. The U.S winger started the game in place of Kovacic for the first time since the month of October.
Chelsea was in the lead when Ben Chilwell’s cross in the far post was met with Olivier Giroud’s side volley to make the score 1-0. The lead didn’t last long as Daniel Podence of Wolves scored the equalizer with a classy strike. When the Blues thought that they will at least get a point from the game, Pedro Neto struck an injury minute goal to snatch away all the points from Chelsea.
It reminded them what team they were for the previous two seasons and they need to work harder more to achieve than the mere presence of Thiago Silva and Edouard Mendy. Wolves got the inspiration from Podence and Neto in the absence of Raul Gimenez- something that lacked from the displays of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.
The cruel end served zero points in the last two fixtures for Lampard and co. as they missed the golden opportunity to go in the top three of the Premier League.
