Leicester City clinched the FA Cup with a narrow win over Chelsea who fought till the very end to find a way back into the game after going behind in the early stages of the first half.
A wonder strike from Youri Tielemans was all that separated both sides and VAR proved eventful once again as it denied Ben Chilwell a goal in the final moments of the game which could have levelled the scoreline.
It was the Blues who got off to a positive start in the Wembley showdown but were unable to capitalise on their possession rate into clear cut chances on Kasper Schmeichel’s goal.
Antonio Rudiger and Mason Mason Mount had their efforts through on goal but were stopped in their tracks as the Foxes used their pacy frontline to mount a counter-attack on a couple of occasions.
Leicester got their opening 45 minutes to a close with a header from Caglar Soyuncu just going wide of the Chelsea goal with both sides still fighting it out for the opener in the cup final.
Nearly 20 minutes into the second half Tielemans produced a moment of magic with his out-of-the-box strike leaving Kepa helpless as the ball ended up in the top corner of the net giving the Foxes a hard-earned lead.
Schmeichel made a great save to deny Mount from finding the back of the net and as Ben Chilwell thought he had forced an own goal from Wes Morgan to level the scoreline, VAR proved a heartbreak for the Blues with the left-back deemed offside in the buildup to the goal.
