Cesar Azpilicueta has provided a major hint over his Chelsea future beyond the summer as he enters the final six months of his stay at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues skipper has been eyed up by Spanish giants FC Barcelona who under the new management of Xavi look to add to their options at the back ahead of the new campaign’s start.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Azpilicueta insisted he remains focused on winning silverware this campaign with Thomas Tuchel’s men despite the speculation that continues to do the rounds over his contract situation.
‘As I always said, I feel I have the trust and confidence of the club and now I am focused on every game.’
‘They are very tough games, and I am enjoying the moment. Eventually the moment will come, but I am fully focused on hopefully getting as many trophies as we can and then we will see.
‘I cannot say anything more than that I am really committed and have a lot of things ahead in the coming months and hopefully we can have a very good season.’
Thomas Tuchel will be hoping to tie down his star defensive name to renewed terms in the English capital with the Chelsea manager hard at work to prevent an exodus of his backline come the summer.
The likes of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are yet to pen new deals at the Bridge with interest arriving in the pairing’s services from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
