Defensive duo Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso’s Stamford Bridge future beyond this summer are reportedly hanging in the balance.
The Spanish internationals are waiting to learn if they would be allowed to head out the exit door at Chelsea in the summer with the FC Barcelona camp keen on landing their signatures despite Thomas Tuchel’s reluctance on parting ways, according to a report from The Evening Standard.
Tuchel is backed to hold talks with both Azpilicueta and Alonso soon to clear the air on their future in the English capital with the Chelsea boss desperate to prevent another exodus of his defensive ranks ahead of the next campaign.
He has already lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen to Spain’s top flight with the former confirming his exit in a farewell note to the Chelsea fans with Real Madrid all set to sign the Germany international central defender on a free transfer.
Sevilla’s Jules Kounde has been lined up as Rudiger’s immediate replacement on the Chelsea team sheet with the former in line to join the west London heavyweights after agreeing upon personal terms.
