Frank Lampard’s Chelsea has been handed a massive boost as English winger Callum Hudson Odoi has returned to first-team training following an injury that he suffered back in April.
The teenage superstar ruptured his Achilles in a Premier League fixture against Burnley last season but is expected to return to action sooner than usual.
Lampard is still looking for his first win as Chelsea manager after three games in charge across all competitions as he was handed a reality check in the opening day of the Premier League season when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hammered the Blues 4-0 at Old Trafford.
Chelsea then lost the UEFA Super Cup to Liverpool on a penalty shootout and drew 1-1 with Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City in the Premier League. It’s quite obvious that the club and manager need a bit of a boost and they have received just that in the form of Callum Hudson Odoi as the star forward returned to first-team training on Wednesday
Hudson Odoi was on the radar of Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich as the German giants wanted to lure him to the Allianz Arena back in the January transfer window. Even though the European transfer window closes on September 2nd, it doesn’t seem likely that Hudson Odoi will move to Germany this summer.
Frank Lampard also explained that he is glad about Hudson Odoi’s progress in terms of his recovery, “He’s getting closer, and He’s trained the last week or two with the Under-23s and is looking good. There is going to be a period of conditioning work for him. The injury looks good, which is great news. The injury looks good which is the great news. Then he’s going to have to be fitter than he’s ever been because I’m going to want him to run!”
Reports claim that Hudson Odoi will be available for selection for Lampard in the first team from next month onwards that is September.
