The first real chance of the game came the visitors’ way with Saul Niguez teeing up Reece James whose effort was well blocked by Burnley’s Charlie Taylor.
Sean Dyche’s men nearly took the lead through January signing Wout Weghorst only for Thiago Silva to make a goal-line clearance to keep his side in the affair.
The home side threatened on a number of occasions before the halftime break but both teams had to settle for a nil-nil scoreline heading into the interval.
Chelsea started the second period with renewed energy and reaped rewards with the returning Reece James slotting home a stunner of a strike to make it 1-0.
Burnley started to crumble at the back and Christian Pulisic made the most of it to set up Kai Havertz for the second goal with the latter netting a composed header past Nick Pope.
Havertz was once again on the scoresheet with the German forward adding to his tally for the day after being teed up by James with Chelsea looking to rubber-stamp their win.
The fourth and final goal came from Pulisic with Saul the provider for the former to strike home from close range and cap off a convincing win for the west London giants.
