Brighton have given permission to Chelsea to speak to their head coach Graham Potter over the now vacant managerial role at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues handed the sack to the under-fire Thomas Tuchel just six matches into the Premier League season with Chelsea struggling to meet expectations after a busy summer transfer window under their new owners.
Chelsea’s Champions League opener defeat to Dinamo Zagreb proved to be Tuchel’s final game in charge of the west London giants who are now eyeing up Brighton manager Potter as the viable candidate to take over from Tuchel in the top job.
According to a report from Sky Sports, it is claimed that the Brighton board have given the nod to Chelsea to go into talks with Potter who is the hot favourite to become the new Chelsea boss ahead of the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane.
It is understood that Potter has been reassured that should he take up the offer, he will be given time to bring about the changes he desires at the club with the manager himself keen to leave Brighton for greener pastures.
