Chelsea were held to a nil-nil stalemate in Wednesday’s west London derby away at Brentford with the visitors lucky to leave with a point in the bag.
MATCH PROCEEDINGS
The home side got the game underway on the front foot and created constant trouble for the Chelsea goalie Kepa who did well to keep his side in the offing.
Kepa tipped over a header from Ivan Toney in a chance that could well have given Brentford their well-earned lead in the first period with Chelsea suffering a setback early on as Conor Gallagher was withdrawn after just 15 minutes.
Potter made no changes at the break despite seeing his side fail to make the most of their attacking opportunities with the young Broja leading the line for Chelsea.
The second period was a much more improved display through on goal from the visitors who had substitute Carney Chukwuemeka make a run with the ball from his own half to the opposition box.
Kai Havertz forced a stop from Brentford’s goalkeeper Raya who himself had a great day between the goalposts and he was called into action again in the dying embers of the game to deny Chukwuemeka with a near-post save.
