Borussia Dortmund director Sebastian Kehl has said that the Bundesliga outfit are in line to keep hold of star striker Erling Haaland despite the recent talk of a move for the player to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Chelsea have been long positioned as the frontrunners to sign the Norway international from Dortmund in what will surely be a mega-money deal with Haaland one of the top attacking talents in world football right now.
The 20-year-old striker found the back of the net 27 times last season in just 28 top-flight outings which has made him the top name on the shopping list this summer for the Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel’s desire to improve his side’s fortunes in the final third of the pitch is believed to be the reason behind the German eyeing up a move for his former Dortmund player in spite of their reluctance to sanction Haaland’s sale heading into the new season.
As reported by Sky Germany, Dortmund’s incoming sporting director Kehl has made it clear that Haaland is key to the club’s plans for the upcoming campaign and Dortmund will welcome him back this week into the first-team fold for the pre-season.
“There is nothing new on this matter. He is in our plans.
“Erling will return this week and he will be very hungry.
“He wants to play football, he feels comfortable with us and he will be eager to score many goals.”
