Injury Update

Billy Gilmour set to make a return to the squad after recovering from his knee injury

Billy Gilmour has given an update to all the fans of Chelsea about his recovery from a knee injury which kept him on the sidelines for a long time. He is determined to find his spot in the starting XI of Frank Lampard and has agreed to fight for it.

The Scottish international had an impressive breakout season last year at Stamford Bridge after making his way through the youth ranks of the Blues following his 2017 arrival from Rangers.

The Chelsea coach put the 18 years old in the senior team and he repaid his faith to a great extent by producing a man of the match performance against Everton and last year’s champions Liverpool FC. This happened just before the break of the COVID-19 pandemic in  March when football shut down as he was adapting to the pace and intensity of English football.

“I’m enjoying it. It’s a great experience and great for my development to play with these world-class players. There’s so many trophies in there and I’m learning every day,” he said as per Goal reports.

“It’s nice to get recognised for the good stuff. I’m going to keep working hard and continuing my form once I’m back from my injury.

“It’s going to be a hard team to get into but hopefully, I’ll get more game time and experience.”

His last(also his 11th) appearance for Chelsea was against Crystal Palace where the Blues won 3-2 as he left the ground being seriously injured on his knee which he recovered until now.

The Scotland youngster had to undergo an extensive rehabilitation program that left him out of the squad and missed a hell number of matches of this campaign. But it seems he has seen the light in the tunnel as he expects to make a return to the Newcastle fixture.
