Chelsea starlet Billy Gilmour is inching closer to securing a loan move to Premier League new boys Norwich City which is in line to take place following the player’s self-isolation coming to an end on Wednesday.
Gilmour had tested positive for COVID-19 whilst at the UEFA European Championships with the Scotland team and the 20-year-old midfield player had been put in isolation.
Norwich City had a strong interest in making a move for the Blues first-teamer in light of Gilmour stepping up with showings for Steve Clarke’s men at the Euros, most notably his man of the match performance in the nil-nil affair against England for which he garnered plaudits from his manager.
The Athletic’s Liam Twomey has claimed that Gilmour is set to sign for The Canaries come Thursday with only minor details in the season-long loan arrangement looking to be sorted out between the two parties.
Chelsea’s decision to offload their talented young player for the upcoming campaign is suggested to be due to Gilmour’s wants for regular minutes on the football pitch which are unlikely to happen while at Stamford Bridge with the likes of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic all ahead of him in the pecking order.
