According to a recent tweet by the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, it has been claimed that Fernandez is close to coming through the door at the Blues who are in talks with the player and his representatives with Fernandez’s family keen on the move.
Fernandez enjoyed a stellar campaign at the World Cup in Qatar with the champions Argentina, winning the Young Player of the Tournament award and his showings have proved integral to Europe’s biggest clubs chasing his signature.
The 21-year-old was a consistent performer in the centre of the park for Argentina who were crowed the World Cup champions for the first time since 1986 after edging out France in a thriller of a final earlier in December.
