Chelsea full-back Ben Chilwell has passed on a stern warning to Mateo Kovacic ahead of the England v Croatia matchup in the UEFA European Championships that are now underway across the continent.
Chilwell is a key part of the England setup which is in charge of Gareth Southgate while Kovacic is backed to anchor the centre of the park for Croatia who are amongst the ‘dark horses’ in the competition.
Both players were crucial in Chelsea’s Champions League glory this past season which culminated in a narrow win over fellow Premier League heavyweights Manchester City in the final played in Porto.
Mason Mount and Reece James are the other players in the England camp who will be tipped for a major role for Southgate’s men after their heroics in the previous campaign for the Blues.
As reported by CFCDaily, Chilwell expects a tough meeting against Kovacic and Co. come Sunday with The Three Lions taking on The Checkered Ones in what is the opening game for either side.
“I spoke to him after the Champions League final, And before, when we were at Chelsea, we spoke a lot – just jokes really.”
“It’ll be good to see him, but we’re not going to be friendly until the final whistle goes!”
