Bayern Munich are not interested in moving in for Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic this summer despite recent speculation linking the Croatian to the Bavarian giants.
Since the former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel took over at Bayern in March, he has been credited with an interest in signing a few of the players he worked together with at the Bridge.
News #Kovacic: Been told again that he’s definitely no transfer target for FC Bayern in summer! Regardless of the fact that he has worked very successfully with Tuchel at #CFC. According to a report from Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Bayern will not be pursuing a deal for Kovacic with the Bundesliga holders keen to bolster their front line rather than sign a fresh pair of legs for their engine room.
There has been talk gaining ground that Kovacic could be one of several high-profile names set to leave Chelsea this summer with the Blues preparing for major exodus to trim down their squad size and comply with the FPP rules.
Kovacic’s ex-Blues manager Tuchel remains a big fan of the 28-year-old midfielder but the newly appointed Bayern coach will be forced to look elsewhere for alternatives to reinforce his squad over the summer.
