Bayer Leverkusen’s Europa League exit ensures great news for Chelsea

Long-term target Kai Havertz could be nearing a move to Stamford Bridge shortly, recent reports suggest. Such developments could occur on the back of Bayer Leverkusen’s run in the Europa League coming to an end. Havertz’s side suffered a 2-1 loss to Inter Milan in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Havertz did manage to get on the scoresheet despite his club’s loss to the Serie A giants earlier this week. The young playmaker has enjoyed a wonderful campaign for Leverkusen with 18 goals in 45 games. Moreover, he has also provided nine assists for his teammates, becoming a star presence for the German side.

With the 21-year old’s 2019-20 season coming to a conclusion, the Blues are set to hasten their pursuit for the German international. Havertz has been Frank Lampard’s priority signing all summer, however, the Chelsea FC boss has been unable to finalize a move for the youngster to West London.

The attacker is reported to have agreed upon personal terms with the Blues ahead of next season. A five-year deal will be signed by Havertz following his potential signing for Frank Lampard’s side this summer.

However, discussions over a transfer fee for the German starlet are still to be ironed out by both parties, Chelsea FC and Bayer Leverkusen. The latter are holding out for an offer in the excess of €80 million to be tabled by the Blues.
