Barcelona will not prioritise signing Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante this summer with the Frenchman a fallback option for the Camp Nou giants.
Kante’s future at Stamford Bridge hangs in the balance as the former Leicester City man has entered the final six months of his current terms which are to expire at the end of the season.
After turning down a two-year deal from Chelsea with Kante holding out for a three-year contract with the option to extent it by a further year, the Blues camp has increasingly been resigned to losing the World Cup-winning midfielder for free in the summer window.
The 31-year-old, however, is reportedly not the top name on Barcelona’s wish list with the Catalan outfit expected to look at other names in the transfer market this summer rather than move in for the Chelsea maestro, according to the Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.
With doubt cast over the long-serving Sergio Busquets’s future, Barca could find themselves in the market for a new midfield signing and the soon to be free agent Kante was said to a name under consideration for Xavi and Co.
