Barcelona are weighing up a move for Chelsea transfer target Josko Gvardiol with the Catalan outfit in the market for a new centre-back following Gerard Pique’s retirement.
Pique’s departure from the Camp Nou fold has forced Barca to look for reinforcements to shore up their backline and it is said that RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol has emerged on their radar ahead of the January window.
According to a report from the Spanish publication SPORT ( via The Daily Express) , it is claimed that the recently appointed Chelsea head coach Graham Potter, who is planning to add to his options in defence, could now face competition for Gvardiol’s signature.
Another head-to-head contest on the transfer front between Chelsea and Barcelona would make for a repeat of last summer when the two clubs battled each other for Raphinha and Jules Kounde with both transfers hijacked by the La Liga giants.
Gvardiol has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the recent past with the Croatian rumored to be a top name on Potter’s wishlist to bolster his ranks after an underwhelming start to the campaign.
