Barcelona have tabled a two-year contract for Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta whose stay at Stamford Bridge is due to end in the summer.
The Catalan outfit are hoping to land Azpilicueta’s signature on a free transfer and have made the approach for the Spaniard with a two-year deal with an option for a further year, claim reports from El Chiringuito.
Azpilicueta has been expected to call it quits in the English capital at the end of the campaign despite the Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel pushing for his defensive mainstay to renew his terms.
Chelsea, however, are believed to be unlikely to extend a long-term offer to the 32-year-old in line with the club’s policy of not tabling anything over a one-year extension for a player over the age of 30.
Tuchel will shift his focus towards ensuring much-needed extensions for the Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen pairing with both central defenders looking for an exit in the summer when their contracts at the Bridge run out.
