Barcelona are reportedly on the verge of completing the long-awaited deal to bring Chelsea wing-back Marcos Alonso to Camp Nou in this summer’s transfer window.
Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, in his recent tweet, has claimed that Alonso’s move to Barcelona appears imminent with Chelsea set to pocket a fee of around €10 million for parting ways with the Spain international.
Alonso’s exit from the Stamford Bridge fold was more or less confirmed when Chelsea announced the signing of Marc Cucurella from Brighton in a mega-money deal to add to their defensive ranks.
The Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel also left out Alonso from the matchday squad for Chelsea’s Premier League opener against Everton over the weekend with Tuchel admitting that Alonso was close to leaving the club.
Alonso has emerged as a viable target for Barcelona over the course of the summer window with the Barca boss Xavi keen to move in for the 31-year-old to reinforce his backline heading into the start of the new season.
