Barcelona have reportedly informed Chelsea they can launch talks in private to sign Frenkie de Jong who is a top target this summer for Manchester United.
De Jong is understood to be new Man United manager Eric ten Hag’s top name on the wishlist but the Holland international has so far seemed reluctant on making the move to Old Trafford due to no Champions League football for the Red Devils.
Recent developments have seen Chelsea emerge as surprise candidates for De Jong’s signature with Barcelona willing to sanction the sale of the young midfield maestro for a sizable price tag to balance their books after hefty spending this summer.
According to a claim from The Football Terrace, the Barca camp have made it known to Chelsea that they can attempt to make a move for the Dutchman who has been made available this summer by the club’s president Joan Laporta.
Chelsea’s interest in moving in for the former Ajax starlet comes at a time when Thomas Tuchel is rumoured to be fretting over the long-term futures of his midfield duo Jorginho and N’Golo Kante.
