Barcelona have reportedly gained major ground in their longstanding attempts to sign Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen this coming summer.
The Dane is out of contract at Stamford Bridge come the end of the season and Chelsea have failed in efforts to convince Christensen to pen a new long-term deal and extend his stay in the English capital.

With the central defender now looking increasingly likely to call it quits with Chelsea at the close of the 2021/22 campaign, new information has come to light suggesting that he would not make the move to his suitors in the Premier League.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, it is claimed that out of respect for the Blues, Christensen will be considering proposals from clubs abroad with Barcelona and Bayern Munich the frontrunners for his coveted signature.
The Catalan giants Barca are hoping for a double raid on the Chelsea camp for both Cesar Azpilicueta as well as Christensen with the defensive duo deciding against renewing terms with Thomas Tuchel’s west Londoners.
