Barcelona could fast-track their plans to sign Chelsea midfielder Jorginho in light of Gerard Pique’s quick-fire decision to leave the Catalan giants.
The La Liga heavyweights have long been credited with an interest in the Blues maestro Jorginho whose future at the club hangs in the balance with his current terms due to expire at the end of the season.
Pique’s earlier-than-expected retirement is set to save Barcelona between £44 million and £65 million which would be used on bolstering their squad when the transfer window reopens for business in the New Year.
According to a report from The Daily Mirror, it is claimed that the Barca camp, which also have their sights on Athletic Bilbao defender Inigo Martinez, are looking to bring in Jorginho as early as January.
Barca are willing to offer Jorginho a two-and-a-half-year deal with an offer in the region of £22m plus add-ons to determine if they can lure Chelsea to part ways with their midfield general who has been a key performer for Graham Potter.
