Barcelona are believed to be close to reaching an agreement to sign Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante ahead of the forthcoming January transfer window.
Kante enters into free agency come the end of the season when his contract expires at Stamford Bridge and there has been much talk over his future in the Chelsea shirt beyond next summer.
According to a report from the Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona have entered into negotiations with Kante’s camp and a pre-contract agreement could be agreed upon soon which would set the stage for the midfielder’s exit from the Bridge.
With the long-serving Barca maestro Sergio Busquets set to leave the Catalan giants in the summer of 2023, the head coach Xavi had been on the search for a viable replacement and he appears to have found his man in the shape of Kante.
The World Cup-winning French midfielder was one of the most influential names on the Blues team sheet since his move to west London from Leicester City in 2016 but his recent time in the English capital has been hampered by a run of injury troubles.
