Cesar Azpilicueta the Chelsea captain reportedly has interest from La Liga clubs Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao. The 30-year-old has racked up 342 appearances for the club in all competitions since his move from Marseille to Chelsea in 2012.
Azpilicueta has suffered a huge dip in form this season and has been at fault for four of the nine goals that Chelsea have conceded so far in the Premier League this season. With Lampard very keen to promote youth and give young players a chance Azpilicueta will be under pressure when highly rates 19-year -old Reece James returns from injury. James was in phenomenal form for Wigan Athletic during a loan spell last season
Should Azpilicueta slip down the pecking order at Chelsea, he could look to secure first-team football elsewhere and a return to his native Spain following almost a decade away might well appeal.
Azpilicueta started his career at Osasuna coming through the academy to the first team and then was sold to Ligue 1 side Marseille before eventually signing for Chelsea in a 7 million pound deal which now looks like a bargain.
The 30-year-old has placed around the defence for the Blues, he replaced legend Ashley Cole at left-back which led to Cole leaving the club, he was then positioned as the right-sided center-back in Antonio Conte’s back-three system. He was reverted back to right-back position by Maurizio Sarri as Chelsea won the Europa League and finished third behind Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League last season.
