Atalanta star on Frank Lampard’s shortlist for the ongoing transfer window

Chelsea FC have entered the fray to sign highly-rated Atalanta left-back Robin Gosens, according to recent speculation. The German has been one of Atalanta’s standout performers in the club’s stellar showing this season in the Serie A.

It is a well-known fact that the Blues manager Frank Lampard is desperately trying to sign a new left-back this summer for his side. However, Lampard’s pursuit of first-choice transfer target Ben Chilwell has proved to be futile despite repeated attempts.

The 23-year old’s club Leicester City are in no mood to let the English international depart the Foxes for less than £80 million. Such a transfer fee is unlikely to be met by Chelsea FC in spite of their strong interest in Chilwell. The Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers has stated that he sees Chilwell’s future at Leicester City beyond the 2019-20 season despite rumours linking the player to other major clubs.

Atalanta, however, are willing to accept bids in the region of £30 million for Gosens this summer. The Serie A side are reportedly inclined to cash in on the 26-year old left-back’s growing popularity this summer. Besides Chelsea FC, Gosens has also been subjected to interest from Juventus and Inter Milan.

Some reports also suggest that Gosens may as well be Lampard’s new first-choice target for the left-back spot at the club. The German has shown his quality on the pitch for his side this season, racking up 10 goals and eight assists in 38 outings.

In addition to his attacking abilities, Gosens has also proven himself to be a great defensive option. Lampard will be hoping that signing the Atalanta man could solve the current defensive crisis plaguing the Blues.

Chelsea FC’s eagle-eyed supporters, however, have noticed something on Instagram that has further fueled speculation of Gosens wanting a move to Stamford Bridge. The 26-year old German liked a recent post of new Blues signing Timo Werner on Instagram.

Such an action of Gosens comes despite the Atalanta star not following the 24-year old Werner on the social media platform. Many Chelsea FC supporters saw this incident as an indication of Gosen’s desire of playing for the Blues next season.
