Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey set to snub offer to sign for Chelsea

Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey is set to snub an offer to sign for Chelsea with the player claiming he was not keen to live in London.

Bailey had emerged on the transfer radar at Stamford Bridge earlier this month after reports had sounded out that Chelsea were willing to part ways with Christian Pulisic who has failed to earn regular game time.

Speaking on the Let’s Be Honest podcast, the Aston Villa star has all but played down on the chance to join Chelsea with Bailey revealing he was not a fan of relocating to the English capital city.

“Aston Villa, top facility, a big club with a big history, fanbase… right city where it is because, as a professional, I take things one step at a time.

“You don’t want to go and live in London. The London lifestyle is fast. You can be distracted, easily, because every day there’s something to do.

“Then you have the top of the top people in London and, because you have money, you always feel like you need to do something and meet friends, go out and party and get caught in the wrong company. I didn’t want that for myself. So, as I say, you have to take things a step at a time.”

Bailey’s recent remarks are sure to come as a setback on the transfer front to the new Chelsea head coach Graham Potter who is looking to dip into the transfer market for reinforcements to bolster his front line.

Chelsea’s struggles in the attacking third of the pitch so far this season have been well-documented despite the club spending big on snapping up Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the summer
