Serie A giants AS Roma who are now under the charge of Jose Mourinho are claimed to be linked with a swoop for Chelsea’s midfield man Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The England international has returned to Stamford Bridge this summer after his misfiring loan spell at Fulham last season and finds his first-team berth under great scrutiny.
Amid the recent talk of Chelsea looking to bolster their options in the centre of the park before the window’s deadline later this month by keeping tabs on Saul Niguez, Loftus-Cheek could be set for a move away from the club, according to reports from The Mirror.
Mourinho is believed to be keen on pursuing a deal for the Chelsea man but a £16m valuation put forward by Thomas Tuchel’s camp could make Roma’s interest in signing Loftus-Cheek wane in the coming days.
Loftus-Cheek was sidelined for Chelsea’s recent outing at the Emirates Stadium which turned out to be a 2-0 win for the visitors with the midfielder testing positive for COVID-19.
