Arsenal could make a ‘cheeky’ offer for Chelsea target Declan Rice with the Gunners considering tabling a bid at less than West Ham United’s asking price.
The Premier League table toppers Arsenal have recently emerged as serious contenders for signing Rice this coming summer despite Chelsea’s long-standing interest in the England international midfielder.
Rice was released from the Chelsea youth setup at the age of 14 and the Englishman has since grown into one of the most formidable players in his position across the Premier League with the country’s biggest clubs keen on his signature.
West Ham head coach David Moyes has insisted that Rice’s suitors will have to smash the British transfer record to sign the 24-year-old but Arsenal are prepared to test the waters by making an offer which falls short of the valuation, according to Goal.
Chelsea’s chances of signing their former academy talent have taken a hit with Rice admitting that he wants to play in the Champions League which the Blues look unlikely to turn out in next season.
