Chelsea FC center-back Antonio Rudiger has shed light on the increasing likelihood that Willian will be leaving the Blues ahead of next season. The 31-year old attacker has so far been unable to agree upon contract terms with the West London based outfit.
The Brazilian international has rejected a two-year extension offered by the Blues. It is known that the player is holding out for an improved three-year deal to be offered by Chelsea FC. However, the club is adamant about tabling a two-year deal at most to extend the 31-year old’s seven-year stint at Stamford Bridge.
And Willian’s teammate Rudiger has spoken about the Brazilian leaving Chelsea FC this summer, with the German international expressing his fondness for the winger. According to Rudiger, Willian was quite similar to former Chelsea FC talisman Eden Hazard, as both attackers preferred to do their talking with their showings on the pitch.
“He does his thing on the pitch, just like Eden Hazard. By playing, he shows what he is about. He is a guy who dictates the game and not many players in the world have this type of quality.
Willian was also branded as an extremely humble and composed professional by his club teammate in a recent interview. Rudiger voiced his gratitude for the Brazilian international who had helped him settle into new surroundings at the Blues following his move to London from AS Roma back in 2017.
“He is a great guy and a really, really good footballer. He is calm and humble and it will be sad if I don’t see him again as a team-mate. He is not the type of player who talks that much.
For the 31-year old Willian, a move to Arsenal is looking more likely by the passing minute. The Gunners are considered to be in the pole position to sign the attacker on a free transfer this summer.
