Antonio Rudiger could be set to stay put at Chelsea beyond the summer in an interesting development to the long drawn out contract impasse.
The Germany international has his future at Stamford Bridge subject to much speculation with Rudiger holding out for a major wage hike to put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea outfit.
Rudiger, who has grown into one of the most important names on the Chelsea team sheet under Tuchel’s charge, is a top name on the shopping list for Europe’s heavyweight clubs which include the likes of Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid.
A report from the German news outlet BILD, however, has suggested that the 28-year-old central defender would prefer to extend his stint in the Chelsea colours despite Real Madrid’s strong interest in prizing away his signature come the summer.
It is understood that a final decision from the player and his camp will only be made in the aftermath of the Champions League quarter-final second leg contest against Real Madrid.
