Earlier this month, Ruben Loftus Cheek agreed on a contract extension with the Blues and now Mason Mount has also signed a contract extension which will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2024.
Chelsea is in a bit of a tough spot at the moment as they incur a transfer ban which will not allow them to sign any players for two transfer windows, which means nearly an entire year without arrivals. New Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is set to bring back players from their loan deals elsewhere and keep hold of the players that he wants for the foreseeable future.
Most recently, Chelsea has tied down talented midfielder Mason Mount at West London on a five-year contract extension after the Englishman signed a new deal. The 20-year-old has not yet made a single appearance for Chelsea’s first team but Mount enjoyed successful loan spells at Vitesse Arnhem and even under Lampard’s guidance at Derby County last season.
Mount scored 11 goals in 44 appearances for the Rams in the Championship and even scored for Chelsea in the 4-0 win over St Patrick’s Athletic on Saturday in Dublin during the preseason. The talented young midfielder is yet to represent his national team despite getting a call up from Gareth Southgate after an impressive string of performances last season.
However, Mount has represented the England U-21’s and upon signing his contract extension of five years expressed what a proud moment for him and his family, “It’s a massively proud moment for me and my family. I joined this club at six years old and it was always my goal to play for the first team one day. I’m really looking forward to the coming season now and working hard to have an impact here at Chelsea. I’ve been at the club for a long time already and hopefully, I’ll stay for a long time to come.”
