Andreas Christensen’s agent is reportedly pushing for change in terms of the new deal which has proven to be a setback for Chelsea’s attempts in tieing down the defender to an extension.
The Denmark international’s future at Stamford Bridge continues to be subject to much speculation with Christensen free to negotiate pre-contract terms with his suitors in the transfer market come January 1.
Reports from The Telegraph have claimed that Chelsea were in for a rude shock when they discovered that Christensen’s agent was proposing the new deal to run for three years as opposed to the five-year-long contract desired by the club board.
With the recent events taking both parties by surprise, it is believed that the contract talks are now at a stalemate with fears growing that Christensen could be forced to call it quits at Stamford Bridge in the build-up to the January window.
Serie A bigwigs Juventus and La Liga champions Atletico Madrid have registered interest in signing the Dane from the Blues camp next summer despite Thomas Tuchel keen on the defender signing on extended terms at the Bridge.
