AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli has asserted his desires of extending Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori’s stay beyond this summer with the England international impressing for the Serie A giants his loan move earlier this year.
The Blues had shipped out the centre-back in the January transfer window after Tomori had fallen down the pecking order at the Bridge in light of Thiago Silva’s move last summer.
Pioli confirms his stance over Tomori’s future
Reports from MilanNews claim the AC Milan boss Pioli expressing hope over making Tomori’s loan move to the San Siro outfit a permanent one with the Italian coach admitting that the defender had fantastic attributes which made him pivotal to the club’s plans.
“My will and the technical area are clear on the satisfaction that this player has given us.”
“Without detracting from our excellent defenders, he has very important characteristics of speed and contrast. Our will is to keep him but it is clear that there are other factors at play.”
Since signing for AC Milan this past January, the 22-year-old Tomori has featured 14 times across all competitions for the Italian heavyweights.
Would Chelsea part ways with the highly promising defender
It remains to be seen whether the newly appointed Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is lured by pocketing a €28 worth transfer fee in order to part ways with Tomori as AC Milan enjoy the option of triggering his buy-out clause.
The Blues have considerable options at their back in the form of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma and despite Thiago Silva’s future in the Chelsea colours looking unresolved, Tuchel is reportedly keeping tabs on Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng who will be available for free this summer.
