AC Milan are understood to be keen on a move for Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic who is considering an exit from Stamford Bridge this summer.
Kovacic is set to enter the final year of his contract in the Chelsea shirt come the start of the next season and the Blues will be forced to cash in on him rather than lose him for free in 2024.
According to a report from the Italian publication Calciomercatoweb, it is claimed that AC Milan are interested in the former Real Madrid man Kovacic with the player likely to part company with Chelsea in the forthcoming transfer window.
Chelsea are bracing themselves for offers to arrive for Kovacic’s services when the transfer window reopens for business later this year with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Bayern Munich also keeping tabs on the 28-year-old.
The Blues have plenty of options in their engine room after splashing a British record fee on signing Enzo Fernandez in the January window but losing a player of Kovacic’s ability and tactical intelligence would surely come as a blow.
