AC Milan director Paulo Maldini confirms Bakayoko transfer speculation

AC Milan director Paulo Maldini has admitted that the Serie A giants are in talks with Chelsea FC over Tiemoue Bakayoko. The Frenchman has emerged as AC Milan’s priority signing in this summer’s transfer window with the club looking to bolster their midfield options under new coach Stefano Pioli.

Maldini revealed that his side were involved in negotiations with the west London outfit, with the Milan legend confirming that Bakayoko was one of the Italian club’s major transfer targets in the summer window.

“We’re in talks with Chelsea to sign him.”

“Tiemoue is one of our main targets.”

Bakayoko is certain to leave the Blues ahead of the 2020-21 season after being reportedly told that his future at Stamford Bridge looks rather bleak. However, the 26-year old’s departure does pose some questions as to whether the midfielder would exit on a temporary basis or on a permanent transfer.

A loan-to-buy offer is heavily tipped to be tabled by AC Milan in their attempts to land the French international. However, Chelsea FC’s asking price of £30 million is causing some stress over at the Serie A club’s camp.

The Blues are hoping to offload Bakayoko on a permanent basis as early as this summer, according to reports. With Frank Lampard being on a rampant spending spree in the ongoing transfer window, the Frenchman’s sale to Milan would help the Chelsea FC boss balance the club’s books.
