Chelsea star Tammy Abraham has warned Liverpool to expect a backlash from Chelsea after they were beaten 1-0 by Valencia in the Champions League.
The Europa League champions were beaten 1-0 at Stamford Bridge after Spanish forward Rodrigo scored from a well-taken freekick, Ross Barkley had an opportunity to equalize from the penalty spot but blasted his penalty onto the crossbar.
Despite the defeat frontman Abraham believes his side will deliver the perfect response when they welcome Jurgen Klopp’s men – who were also beaten by Napoli on Tuesday night – to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
‘It’s still early doors. We’re obviously fuming that we lost today but we can’t dwell on it,’ he told The Sun. ‘It’s our first game of the group stage, we still have another five to go so we have to win our next five. ‘We’ve got another massive game on Sunday. So we have to take our anger out against Liverpool.’
Asked about his own fast start to the season – in which he’s scored seven league goals in four starts – he humbly added: ‘I have to give it to the manager, the players as well. ‘I had a little situation against Liverpool where I missed the penalty myself and from there they’ve just supported me and believed in me. ‘Playing with such great players who create great chances, it’s just about me being in the right place at the right time.’
Abraham has been on a scoring run in the Premier League, netting seven goals in his last three appearances and will want to continue his scoring run against Liverpool on Sunday.
