Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham has stated that the training ground focus on improving his understanding with Christian Pulisic had paid off in Chelsea’s confident 2-1 win at Vicarage Road against Watford.
The in-form English striker Abraham opened the scoring inside five minutes to give the away side the lead and intelligently squared an assist for his teammate Christian Pulisic to double the margin shortly after the break.
Watford and Spanish winger Gerard Deulofeu halved the deficit with an 80th-minute penalty, but the visitors held on to record a fifth consecutive win in the Premier League under new boss Frank Lampard.
The United States international Pulisic arrived at Chelsea this summer from German outfit Borussia Dortmund and has started the past two games for the Blues following a tough start to life at Stamford Bridge and the young forward now boasts four top-flight goals.
And with the progress of the 21-year-old Pulisic, Abraham is also loving life with his strike partner and admitted the same to Chelsea TV, “He is a good player to play with,”
The 22-year-old English star also explained that Chelsea have been working on training ground set plays to improve on the pitch, “We have been working in training on movement for when he crosses it or I cross it. We know where we are going to be in the box and it is just about getting the ball to him.”
Chelsea’s margin of victory against Watford would have been greater if goalkeeper Ben Foster had not been in a defiant mood.
However, two goals ultimately proved enough for Frank Lampard’s West London side to claim a seventh successive away win across all competitions this season.
