Lampard is happy to take managerial advises but says Mourinho incident wasn’t a friendly one

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard took a swipe at Tottenham Hotspur coach Jose Mourinho and insisted that he has too much respect for Crystal Palace boss, Roy Hodgson to get involved in a touchline row.

Lampard had a strong verbal clash with Spurs coach, Mourinho when they were eliminated in the Carabao Cup’s fourth-round in tie-breaker. Mason mount was the only player to have missed the spot-kick as Spurs progressed past Chelsea with a 5-4 score.

Mourinho was infuriated by Lampard’s rude behavior after German striker, Timo Werner gave Chelsea a lead. Mourinho taunted Lampard as per reports and asked him to remain seated regarding the West Brom match.

“Frank, when you’re losing 3-0 you’re not standing up here,” Mourinho was heard telling Lampard as per Sky Sports news..

As Lampard hit back, he insisted that Mourinho’s advice wasn’t so friendly.

“I would always be happy to take advice from fellow managers, my players, my staff, people I respect, people I listen to in football and outside football,” Lampard said.

“I don’t think the Jose incident was ever advice. It wasn’t that.”

Lampard further made clear how much he admired Palace manager, Hodgson that ignited the feud with his former Chelsea boss,

“Roy has been an incredibly straight-down-the-line person and coach,” Lampard said.

“His career is beyond exceptional. I have so much respect for the job he does and the way he carries himself.”

“There will be no touchline spats with me and Roy because I’ve got too much respect for him”, he added.

The clash has given Lampard a reputation as a feisty character on the touchline. He accused Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp, and his coaching staff as arrogant during Chelsea’s visit at Anfield in the previous season.

The Chelsea legend says that he won’t be intimidated by more experienced managers and his behaviour shown is because of how he thinks it fits the competitive nature of the game.

“On the touchline, if you look forced or trying to be what might be perceived as arrogant or trying to portray a character, that sometimes becomes not real or boring from the outside,” he said.

“I certainly don’t do that. I try to react as I see fit in the game, with a competitive nature.”
