Thiago Silva struggled in his first Premier League match against West Brom

Thiago Silva moved to Chelsea from Paris Saint Germain as a free agent as he didn’t continue his contract with the French club.

At the European top flight, he is a proven winner and has incredible experiences at the highest level. The language might be a problem for him but his move is still a sensible one although he just turned 36 a few days back.

“He’s not speaking the language enough to do it in that sense, but it doesn’t matter with someone like him,” Lampard explained pre-match.

“He delivers it with actions and presence and how he is with people around him,” he added.

But the confidence of having a previous season’s UCL runners up in the Chelsea backline vanished when he made an absolutely horrible mistake in the 25th minute. His mistake cost Chelsea as  West Brom scored from that opportunity in a game that finished 3-3.

The veteran defender totally lost control of the ball following a simple pass which was picked up by Callum Robinson. The West Brom player calmly netted the ball past Willy Caballero to take a 2-0 lead.

Slaven Bilic’s side made the scoreline 3-0 lead shortly after the second goal to put the Blues in disarray. The half time ended with the Brazilian defender unable to tackle once in 45 minutes and was dribbled past two times by the opponents.

Fans took to twitter that it is impossible for Silva to flourish in the Premier League at such an age.

One of them said, “He was a world-class player in his prime but adapting to a new league at the age of 36 isn’t easy.”

The coach will definitely want to have the Silva what the world saw last season in the PSG shirt. It is to be seen that if he will really flourish in the new league or not. Only time will say!
