Chelsea is reportedly on the verge of completing the signing of Rennes goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy.
Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has lost his faith in Kepa Arrizabalaga after performing horrible between the sticks for the Blues. The Chelsea boss is understood to be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper.
The young Spanish goalkeeper, Kepa became the club’s record signing when he joined from Athletic Bilbao back in 2018 in a £71.6million deal.
Since Chelsea won the Europa League in the Spaniard’s debut season, Kepa has struggled for consistency and form in the 2019/20 campaign.
Frank Lampard is left with no choice than to improve his goalkeeping position of the squad.
However, Chelsea has struggled to find a club capable of buying the Spaniard. Although they were interested in signing Atlético Madrid’s No.1 keeper Jan Oblak, they have lowered their sights to more affordable options.
Chelsea are confident of securing a deal for Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

£18m-rated Mendy joined Rennes last year. It could be Chelsea’s next big summer arrival as claimed by journalist, Kevin Palmer.
He said: “I’m hearing that Rennes keeper Edouard Mendy could be the next big arrival at Chelsea as talks reach a crucial stage. But he is not their only goalkeeper option this summer.”
Kepa needs to deliver if he aims to keep his No.1 spot for Chelsea. Else, it will not be long before he will be shown the exit door.
