UEFA Europa League runners-up Inter Milan are confident of securing the transfer of N’Golo Kante this summer, reports suggest. The World Cup-winning midfielder has been a target for the Serie A giants with the Nerazzurri boss Antonio Conte wanting to sign his former player.
There has been speculation of Conte’s desire to strengthen his current squad massively over the summer if he extends his stay at the San Siro outfit ahead of the upcoming season. The Inter Milan board is likely to relent to Conte’s demands as they are desirous of extending the Italian coach’s stint as the manager of the Serie A club.
Kante’s future in the Chelsea FC shirt beyond this summer does look a bit doubtful. The French international’s last season was riddled with a number of injury troubles, including a recurring hamstring issue. As a result, the 29-year old’s spot in the Blues’ playing XI is not assumed to be a guarantee unlike before come next season.
Moreover, Frank Lampard is rumoured to be open to sanctioning the Frenchman’s sale this summer to balance the books for the west London club. Chelsea FC have incurred heavy spending this summer on the purchase of attacking duo Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.
The Blues remain poised to continue their spending spree by signing further defensive reinforcements in the form of a new centre-back and a left-back. Leicester City’s full-back Ben Chilwell’s confirmation as the latest Chelsea FC signing is expected to be announced in the coming days, a deal that would set back Frank Lampard’s side a further £50 million.
