Recent reports from Italy have indicated AS Roma’s inability to meet Chelsea FC’s asking price for midfield outcast Jorginho. The Italian international is heavily tipped to be sold by the Blues in this summer’s transfer window.
The ex-Napoli man has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge in recent months. The rise of 19-year old sensation Billy Gilmour has meant that Frank Lampard is open to the idea of sanctioning Jorginho’s sale.
AS Roma had entered the race to sign the 28-year old Jorginho ahead of next season after it had been reported that Juventus had withdrawn their interest from making a move for the player. Following the sack of Maurizio Sarri by the Serie A champions, speculation had arisen that the Blues midfielder will no longer be a target for the Old Lady this summer.
The new Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo does not consider Jorginho to be an essential signing for the Italian club, according to reports. Moreover, the Serie A giants have already confirmed the capture of FC Barcelona’s Arthur Melo ahead of the upcoming season.
Jorginho was open to a possible move to AS Roma, however, the Italian outfit are not in a position to shell out Lampard’s price-tag on the midfielder’s head.
